I disagree. I found the information from the students the most enlightening=
part of all. They don't exaggerate the pressure being put on students for =
higher and higher grades. There is a general assumption that a broad =
education is secondary to focusing on a single field that will make a lot =
of money. We see that at the University level all the time, and we can see =
where the roots are. The student who is the son of the military father was =
very forthright about the fact that he had been told that if he didn't get =
perfect grades "no college" would accept him. Who is giving them that =
information? I think the show pointed out some serious flaws in our OWN =
houses. What are we (librarians, teachers, counselors) telling students =
about a "succeed at all costs" mindset?

I was disappointed with the program on Plagiarism that aired on Thursday =
=3D
on
ABC Prime time. The contents skimmed the problem and no real experts =3D
were
interviewed and if they were it were merely in passing.
Any thoughts on this?
