And they probably have a teacher or a librarian who checks sources. Dr. = Joy McGregor's research ("Do scribes learn?") showed that gifted students = who plagiarize more are rewarded with higher grades. In the competetive = world of college admissions, a few points mean a lot. They get over = scheduled, behind the 8 ball, and cut and paste to get it done. Since they = are good writers naturally, the teachers don't question it. Some get found = out when the teacher posts their essay/short story/poem on the web and a = few months later the real author finds it! Others get outed with Turnitin. = I'm constantly amazed at the number of graduate students who think that = cutting and pasting from websites constitutes "research".=20 =20 Carol Simpson, Ed.D. Asst.
