I must have missed the original post. I take it Scholastic is hearing
the complaints, and looking for a new name for Book Fairs besides Book
Exchange (which is both confusing AND unexciting). We've never had
trouble with the name "book fair" here, from preschool to youth to teens
to parents, so this whole thing seems a little odd to me.
Seems a little bit like our recent "Library/Media Center" discussion.
Aren't people still going to wonder what "that" is, whatever name they
come up with, and then say, when they figure it out, "Ohhhh, you mean a
BOOK FAIR!" They've been naming the on-campus places where students
live "residence halls" or the like for decades now, but in real life,
people still call them dorms.
But let's see. How about:
Book Blowout
Book Extravaganza
Read-a-Rama
Book Specatacular
Reader's Revel
Lauri Cahoon-Draus
K-12 Library Media Specialist
Suring School Libraries

How about something like Book Bonanza?
Unless the older kids would play on the similarity between Bonanza and
banana???
