Thank you to all of you who have responded to my recent queries. I am sorry if some of my questions were too hard. Still, I have been able to follow a number of leads that have been included on the School Excellence website I am working on. When the department finally has it online I will let you all know the URL. When I asked why I was given the job (it's on top of my regular position) I was told that as a t/l I would have the contacts, the knowledge and the search skills! So there is some recognition in higher places here ... now to get it translated into working conditions! On Monday I went to a lecture by Edward de Bono and he was asked how people could find the time to have the new ideas when they were flat out keeping up with the information. He said that a new profession would be invented - information specialists who could gather, evaluate, filter and disseminate the information to those who needed to know and to think about it. I wanted to jump up and say we had already been invented and we were called librarians but I remembered just in time that the whole thing was recorded for national television and it wasn't appropriate! My mum would have been embarrassed! But the man had much to say that was interesting especially as the audience was not strictly an educational one.
