Ok - here's the original query: "Hi - my senior English teachers would like your recommendation for an engaging book for average seniors to read next spring when senioritis hits an all-time high! The only criteria is that the author is British originally." And here are the recommendations! Thanks to all who contributed! ******************************** Rats saw God, by Thomas Hits the senioritis topic quite well. *************************************** Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair! ************************************** Terry Pratchett has quite a few fantasy (satirical-ish) that are fun. We have Wee Free Men in our junior high library. His newer 2 are darker, but others Hogfather (a Santa take off) and Soul Music are two I can think of off the top of my head. I've read quite a few. ***************************************************************** >Anything by Terry Pratchett! ******************************************************* You could try 'The curious incident of the dog in the night-time' by Mark > Haddon. ************************************************************* What about Nick Hornby? (About a Boy, Fever Pitch, High Fidelity) Tony Hawks (Round Ireland with a fridge, Playing the Moldovans at Tennis, One Hit Wonderland) Zoe Heller (Notes on a Scandal) Helen Fielding (Bridget Jones, Olivia Joules) ************************************************************************ Oops, thought of another really good one. Stella Gibbons (Cold Comfort Farm). **************************************************************** Thanks again - my English teachers will be thrilled!! -- Ellen Taylor, Library Media Specialist Rossview High School Clarksville, TN 37043 Ellen.taylor@cmcss.net For all the latest at RHS, go to http://www2.cmcss.net/~RHS/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
