I hope it's OK if I toot my horn for a minute! I have been an elementary
librarian for 26 years, and I have never felt so appreciated as I do right
now!
Yesterday at Awards Day, when I went on stage to present the AR awards, my
students gave me such a huge cheer that I felt like a movie star! Then I was
presented with an award myself because my peers selected me as one of two
Teachers of the Year (long story why we have two every year) for my school.
I got a little apple on a pedestal with an engraved plate on the front. It
will sit on top of my computer to give me "warm fuzzies" every day!
Then today, as the only teacher in school with perfect attendance for the
year (my two days out for our state library conference and my one day for
our state library legislative day didn't count against me), I received a
$200.00 gift certificate for Opry Mills Mall!
Tomorrow night I will be going to our county high school graduation. The
Kindergartners when I started at my school are graduating, so I feel like I
am too. Last night I "studied" the high school yearbook borrowed from one of
my former students and was thrilled to see so many of my "babies" doing so
well and looking so good in high school. There are eight elementary schools
that eventually feed to the high school, and two of ours are Valedictorian
and Salutatorian!
This really is a great job!!! And I'll stop tooting now! Thanks for letting
me!
