[LM_NET] TARGET: What do you do with paperback books?

Hi, I'm a new librarian & don't know a whole lot about what I'm doing.
I'm working on a waiver, because I don't have my Library Science degree
yet (actually just started this semester).  I taught 2nd grade last year,
so I'm really new to all this.  I am in a K-5 school.  I have some
paperback books that the previous librarian purchased through a book fair
& I'm not sure what I should do with them.  Do you barcode them & let the
kids check them out or do you just have a sign-out sheet or what?  I
appreciate your help.
