[LM_NET] TAR: Looking for an easy to read book like Matilda

Hello,

An ELL teacher at one of my schools is reading Matilda with her fifth graders and 
reports that four girls are unable to read it - it's too hard.  Is there another 
book anyone could recommend at the 2nd/3rd grade level with a funny 
character/prankster in school?
