That would be a hard task for me -  you  may need the basic - almanacs,
atlases, encyclopedias (and even that is up to question -as you could do an
online edition.

 So much would depend on your curriculum, student body, community needs,
etc. When I taught Reference classes at the Graduate level I always stressed
that no one basic bibliog. would work.

For example, my school only teaches Spanish in the LOTE dept. Do I need
Italian, French, Latin dictionaries?
We teach theology - do I need RSV, NRSV, KJ, Douay, NKJ, etc? Do I need the
Book of Mormon? Torah? Koran, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures?

 My answer to the above is YES.

I bought the New Catholic Encyclopedia but I don't bother to update World
Book anymore. I don't buy almanacs anymore - and at one time - I couldn't
have lived without them.
