                  SAVE THE DATES!

                  As President of the Long Island School Media Association, and 
Library Media Specialist at Oceanside High School, it's my hope that all school 
Library Media Specialists and other educators will be able to attend the SLMS 
Conference in 2005. 

                  The 2005 SLMS Conference will be held May 5th to May 7th on Long 
Island at the Melville Marriott. It will provide professional development 
opportunities for you!

                  It will be hosted by the Long Island School Media Association and 
Suffolk School Library Media Association. It's the big event of the year for the 
School Library Media Section of the New York Library Association. School Library 
Media Specialists from all over NYS will be attending the conference. 

                  We urge you to attend and invite an administrator. The 
administrator(s) who join you will only be charged $35 for lunch. Special workshops 
of particular interest to administrators have been planned for Friday, May 6th just 
prior to lunch. 

                  I encourage all Library Media Specialists to initiate discussion 
about this event with others in their districts. Apply for professional days at the 
start of the new school year.

                  Planning for the 2005 conference has begun. We are looking for 
volunteers to help in the process. If you are interested, contact Don Wilson, 
dwilson@lisma.org or me, rkaikow@lisma.org.
