Our high school is much smaller (about 520 students) but we do have a
problem with limited computers. I require any drop in student to have a pass
from a teacher. Students must sign in with a very specific reason for their
trip to the library. This helps prevent students coming down to just hang
out. If there are classes signed up to use the space (limited to two at a
time) and it is very busy, drop in students will be sent back to class.
Scheduled classes have priority.

Subject: [LM_NET] High school research
Date: Tue, 9 Nov 2004 08:13:38 -0500

Our high school has two hours of lunch/study halls.
Our current system of managing student research during those times is
not optimal. We have 1300 students in the building, classes occasionally
scheduled in the library during those times, and a limited number of
computers for use. I would like to know what systems are being used
which encourage and accomodate students to use the library during their
study halls for research , book check out without chaos of having an
unknown number flooding in and not being able to effectively use the
resources.
Thank you
