I have a teacher looking for something new to teach in an "average" 9th grade lit class. She was thinking along the lines of "Speak" by Anderson, or "Monster" by Myers (those titles are used in our remediation classes so she wants something different). Not too long, really get the kids hooked in, modern, and of course appropriate for in-class usage. What can you all suggest?
