[LM_NET] TARGET: Read-aloud for 2nd grade

Hi - I am a high school Media Specialist, and my son's 2nd grade teacher has
asked me to come and read a story of my choosing to his class next week for
Book Week.  I have books at home that I read to my son, but I still don't know
all that much about books for that age group, and I want to be a success!  I
was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a book that is "always a hit'
with this age (6-8).  I guess his teacher thought I was one parent who wouldn't
be intimidated by reading to a group, but being in a high school, I really
have little experience with this and I'm a little nervous about it!  I want to
find something that they probably haven't already heard, too.  If you have any
tips for delivery, that would be appreciated as well.  Thanks for any
