Recent occurrences that make me wish I was a prison guard instead:

Student asked for a book. I couldn't immediately find exactly what he
needed. He said, "Never mind. I'll just go to the REAL library after
school."

Yearbook staff wore out their computers and are falling behind on deadlines
because of it. Principal takes one of my library computers for them to use
in spite of the fact that I point out to him that I'm in the middle of
Junior English research and need every computer available for students to
use to access the online catalog, the online subscription databases, and for
word processing. I had previously offered the yearbook advisor the
opportunity to install her software in the library and have the students
work there since I don't have research going on the period that we have
yearbook, but she wasn't interested.

Worked up a presentation on questioning, key words and advanced Boolean
searching for same Junior English classes. During presentation to a group of
45 students, one teacher (yes, I said TEACHER) gets into a humorous
conversation with the student across the table from her and distracts the
whole group. Maybe two or three students keep focused on what I am teaching.

I'm not really seeing any humor in this yet, but I'm sure that in 40 or 50
years it will just seem hysterically funny.
