If OLD ones are working fine...keep them! I have the older one and the
newer one... Main difference is speed and on the older one I have to
push a button for it to scan...it still works fine.

I need your collective wisdom. Our district supervisor was on the phone
with Follett Software to order Alliance Plus for two of our schools that
don't have it. While on the phone the salesperson told him that two of
our
schools have outdated barcode scanners. They have the 3500 model and
the
newest is the 3800 which is what I have. Follett has them on sale right
now
and he was trying to sell them to our supervisor. What our supervisor
wants
to know is this: Do barcode scanners get that outdated and is it
necessary
to purchase a newer model if the older ones are working fine? Since my
3800
is the only one I've ever had I don't know.
I would appreciate advice from anyone using Follett scanners.
