I am responsible for managing two areas of my library (the main part and its
annex). The main part of my library is where I instruct and guide students
in library skills. My fiction, biographies, special collections magazines,
and professional library (teacher's corner) are housed in the main library.
In my annex, the non-fiction and reference are housed there. I also have a
lab setting of 25 computers, which a computer aide sees students on a fixed
schedule (6 - 7 classes a day). A door divides the two rooms and I don't
have a library aide. The aide that I mentioned is strictly to guide those
students during technology instruction. Does anyone have any ideas about
how I can successfully allow students to browse and select books
independently when I have to operate circulation and help students on one
side or the other find what they need?
