When I was in Elem., I always read the book and then handed out small silver
bells afterwards. I have been asked to do it again this year at one of my
middle schools. ALSO, I have been asked to be a chaperone when the 5th & 6th
graders will all be going to the movie as part of their Christmas party/book
related theme. The teachers thought that it would be perfect for the
librarian who will be reading the book to also go to see the movie, and help
with the conversations about what was same/different.

Yes, I deal with the hype issue. But I would rather deal with informing why
we dont get into the hype, than denying a good book.

Same issues with Ella Enchanted, etc.
