Although I like to compare my collection with other lists,  there were
many things on this list that would not even be looked at if I had them
here at the Middle School.  What I did recently was to take the pages out
of the front of the Follett catalog listing Award books, ALA Best Picks,
etc., and mark which ones I have.  What I found out was we are pretty well
stocked in the fiction section, but the science sections are waaaaay
behind the times.  I shared this fact with my administrator so she knows
that we need to fatten up that portion of the library.  Last year, I spent
some money on biographies after doing a little survey of copyright dates
and letting her know  that many of those books were almost as old as I am.
(I was 5 when John Glenn went up the first time)
