Dear LM-Net Friends,
I have a similar situation in my media center. The
two computer labs are part of the media center but
that is not the issue. I very often see teachers
brining classes to the labs to complete assignments.
They give up valuable teaching time to allow kids to
type papers. I think the computers have blurred the
line between classroom teaching and homework time.
Any thoughts on this type of computer usage? (and
PLEASE don't give me the old 'not everyone has
computer access at home' speech. The library is open
before school, during lunch and after school. Also
many kids have studyhalls so they have plenty of
opportunity to use computers.
I find that kids aren't writing rough drafts anymore
they are cutting pasting and printing and using
classtime to do homework.
