We're going to do a transition program with our 8th graders this year - =
they'll be visiting the high school and hearing from people of many =
different areas of the building during a regular school day. For my =
part, I'll talk to them a bit, but I don't want to just stand in front =
and talk - I'd like them to have a chance to be active learners as well. =
I'll probably have around 30 minutes for anything I'd like to say plus =
the activity. My assistant remembers a story that a previous =
teacher-librarian sometimes used to get them moving; it was a =
fill-in-the-blank Dewey story. I've looked online and haven't found =
anything I feel will suit. I did find one of these stories in a file =
that was left for me; it begins with "700's real name was Arthur, after =
the king in 398..." - but I'd also like to see the following one that my =
assistant remembers seeing previously used - it involved dating, buying =
a diamond ring (they had to find Dewey numbers for gems, Will =
Shakespeare, etc.) Anyway, I wondered if anybody had something like =
this that they would be willing to share with me; I'd really appreciate =
it.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can offer.
