ELEM: story with dark as a positive

Dear Netters,
        I am looking for stories where dark and night are positive
elements in the story.  Nearly everything in our Western white
culture sees light/day as good and dark/night as some form of bad.
Do you know of any stories, folklore or otherwise that turns this
around?
