Did I understand you all correct to say no inventory in 5 years?

I have to agree with Allan. When I started in an elementary a few years
=
back, the library was automated, no shelf list, no card catalog, not a =
single luxury (sorry, just had to throw that in, it's Friday). And =
believe it or not I survived. This year, I moved up to a middle school =
and the previous librarian kept both. Now, with starting a new building,
=
new schedule, trying to collaborate with teachers, etc., guess what is =
the first thing to go!

Oh, and Allan, not doing an inventory in 5 years...I'll still stand =
next to you in a lightning storm, I think we'll be OK.
=20
Have a good Friday!

I waited about 6 months the first time - I have automated 2 libraries so
=
far
and stuck to my policy. At first I was nervous to toss everything. I =
held on
to catalog cards and shelf list cards - the tossed everything. The =
second
time I threw everything away the day the plug was put in the wall.

I have been warned by many that it is better to keep a hard copy- just =
in
case of power failure, etc. That defeats the whole purpose of =
automation, I
believe. I have never in 10 years now had a reason to wish I had a paper
trail.
