Dear Cyber Friends,

I have a question for ya'll! As media specialists, how do you see your job
in the year ahead? Is your role changing, are jobs being merged or phased
out? Do you see yourself as more of a Lead Teacher than a media specialist?
And Why? I'm doing a paper and would love to see how different/alike our
job really is around the country.

Myself, my job has evolved into a collaboration between the teachers and
media center. The collaboration involves the new computers (12) in my
center. Being an old science teacher, I beg the teachers to "let me" get
the class involved by making slime and really gross stuff. By using books
that are in the media center the students can reproduce my demos, and by
showing them how to do internet searches the teachers are surprised at just
how much material is out there to use and is free. They remember just how
much fun learning can be. Being a media specialist allows me to teach both
the teachers and the students.

Thanks for your input!
