I feel the need to respond to this. I have a security system because I
received the 3M Grant through ALA. As I tell my students, "We have this
system, not because I think you are going to steal the books, but
because people are forgetful and sometimes accidentally walk out without
realizing they haven't checked the book out, or pick it up with the rest
of their stuff without realizing it. Also, we have students who have
NEVER used a library before and when I tell them they can take books
with them, they don't understand about checking out and try to just walk
out with the book."
