This must be the year to discard. We also have been weeding as we prepare to
go to the SIRSI system. Staff, then students had the opportunity to select
from the discards.
The remainder were grabbed up by our 5th grade science teacher. She is doing a
unit on conservation and recycling. The kids drilled holes in the book cover
and inserted grommets after covering the book with a cloth jacket our library
aide helped them sew from scrap material. They then glued 2 pages together to
make each page sturdier and made a scrap book. The result has been a fun
learning experience with a neat product the kids can have as a keepsake or give
as a gift.
