Hi All, How to cope? Stop being the humble functionary and thus devaluing your position and role in the school. If you would like some more info on how to do this please email me offlist. :) BC @ Your Library Barbara Combes, Lecturer School of Computer and Information Science Edith Cowan University, Perth Western Australia Ph: (08) 9370 6072 Email: b.combes@ecu.edu.au "Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation." If you find yourselves overwhelmed, you should begin to prioritize. Figure out what's most important. Then what's next important and on and on until you have run out of tasks. You also have to accept the fact that you cannot do it all. Make time for the important things and don't worry about those you can't get to. E.G. It's not important to have shelves dusted but it is important to check in every book each day. When I was a working mother of 3 active girls, I made them my priority in life. I did my job but had little time for extras (working on committees at school or on a state level, remaining at school at the end of the day, etc. ) I made sure I was available in the afternoons to get the girls to and from their activities. Once they started driving and eventually went off to college, I was able to engage in all those extra things. It seems to have worked as I have 3 productive, well adjusted adult daughters.
