Another teacher and I are interested in compiling a list of "classics" that students should be familiar with before they enter college. Although we teach in middle school, we want to encourage our students to read some of the easier books (such as Call of the Wild and Jane Eyre) and have a list that they can take on to high school. I am aware of YALSA's list; however their current list is focused on recently published titles, not on classics. What I'm looking for are lists that have already been created so that we can have some sort of reference guide to look at.
