Last year a wonderful book was published called The Race to Save the
Lord God Bird by Phillip Hoose. It details the plight of the
ivory-billed woodpecker. I bought a copy of the book and gave it to one
of our science teachers, who loved it. The teacher just came in (all
excited!) and told me that the news today came out that an ivory-billed
woodpecker was spotted in Arkansas! This is huge news in birding, and it
is featured as one of the headlines on CNN's website today.
