Hello - I have a question for Spectrum users. When you use Easy Entry screen for Marc, where do you place the original copyright date? Our problem has surfaced where one person was cataloging using the most recent date on the book - thinking that was the date that should be used since the screen prompted published information about the book. After talking with a Sagebrush support person, I understand Sagebrush instructs libraries to create a new Marc record for any book that has different publishing information. I can understand that, but what I wonder about is the place for original copyright information. It seems misleading to have students look up Cry, the Beloved Country and think it is a new book since the copyright date says 2002. We can use the expanded Marc record to add information, but after looking at a union catalog for SE Minnesota and Library of Congress records, we are finding discrepancies. What is your best guess about this issue? -- Beverly Nelson Media Generalist Spring Grove Public School 113 2nd Ave NW Spring Grove, Minnesota 55974 507-498-3223 bev.nelson@springgrove.k12.mn.us -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
