Dona J. Hartwich Senior Librarian Horsham College Horsham, Victoria, Australia http://web.horsham-college.vic.edu.au/ shalom7x70@bigpond.com -------Original Message------- My problem, though, is that without being an expert in world religions, how do I know if a "tale" is holy writ or not? I don't know enough about Buddhism or Navajo beliefs or Indigenous Australian beliefs, REPLY: I know it is hard. I had been told that the PC thing to do was move the Aboriginal myths from 398 to the 200's. I was starting to do so when I spoke to an Aboriginal tribal elder and she said that their dreamtime stories are not part of a religion and should stay in the myths and legends section. So, back they went! I am pleased I asked and hadn't changed all books. I THINK I have catalogued books about the historical side of their beliefs in the 200's but not the actual dreamtime stories themselves.
