Harvey Daniels has a book called Literature Circles.  Perhaps this is what
the teacher is looking for?  If so, Lit Circles are one way of conducting
classroom discussion about books.  It involves having students take on
different roles within the group such as Discussion Director, Literary
Luminary, etc.
