Thank you very much for your great suggestions!!!

The Kissing Hand is a beautiful story for
Kindergarten.
--------------

General School
Never Spit on Your Shoes - Denys Cazet
First Day Jitters - Julie Danneberg
If You Take A Mouse to School - Laura Numeroff
David Goes to School - David Shannon

Library
What Happened to Marion's Book? - Brooke Berg
D.W.'s Library Card - Marc Brown
Book!Book!Book! - Deborah Bruss
The Library Dragon - Carmen Deedy
I Took My Frog to the Library - Eric Kimmel
Edward and the Pirates - David McPhail
Edward in the Jungle - David McPhail
Richard Wright and the Library Card - William Miller
Tomas and the Library Lady - Pat Mora
Wild About Books - Judy Sierra
The Librarian from the Black Lagoon - Mike Thaler

If you haven't seen Wild About Books yet I highly
recommend it. Written by Judy Sierra and illustrated
by Marc Brown, they dedicated it to Dr. Seuss and it
is written somewhat in his style. The storyline has a
bookmobile librarian accidentally driving to the zoo
where of course all of the animals start getting books
and reading (some of them mishandle the books
initially so there is some book care in the story),
then they turn to writing books, and eventually build
and run their own library!
------------
I'm getting ready to read "Mr. Wiggle's book"
"Corduroy goes to the
library" And "the library" by stewart.
I also try easy "career" books about librarians and
"What happened to
Marion's book?"
mostly book care a why we love to read.
------------
How about A Fine Fine School by Sharon Creech?
There's also a couple
of cute ones just for kindergarteners - The 12 Days of
Kindergarten and The Night Before Kindergarten. I
also use Mr. Wiggle's Book right away because we start
talking about book care on day 1. Another fun one for
library is Can You Guess Where We're Going by
Woodruff.

Try Wild about Books by Judy Sierra
The Library Dragon by Carmen Deedy
Beverly Billingsley Borrows A Book by Alexander
Stadler
------------
I am planning to start the school year with the
following
books (elementary):
Beatrice Doesn't Want to (Laura Numeroff)
I Am Too Absolutely Small for School (Lauren Child)
Wild About Books (Judy Sierra).

In previous years, I have used:
Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Book (Lauren Child)
Stella Louella's Runaway Book (Lisa Campbell Ernst)
D.W.'s Library Card (Marc Brown)
The Library Dragon (Carmen Deedy)
Beverly Billingsley Borrows a Book (Alexander Stadler)
Library Lil (Suzanne Williams)
Aunt Chip and the Great Triple Creek Dam Affair
(Patricia Polacco)
------------
I just read the picture book, Who's Afraid of the Big
Bad Book by Lauren Child about a boy who falls asleep
into a fairy tale book that he has doodled in, cut out
pictures from, and made sticky and slimey with food.
It has great cartoon like illustrations and is a fun
read aloud. Kids of elementary age can recognize the
fairy tales and you can use it as a lead in to talking
about proper book care!
-------------
I love
"What if the bus doesn't come"
"Wemberly Worried"
"Don't eat the teacher"
"Giraffe and a half" (just for fun)
"Arthur's teacher trouble"
------------
One of my favorites is Wemberley Worries by Kevin
Henkes.
