Hi everybody,

I just had a friend ask a question about a book which I didn't recognize but maybe
you will. Here it is. I am trying to find a book that I read not to long ago (5
or 6 years) and I am having trouble remembering it.

It is a book in the same vein as "Cheaper By The Dozen" and "The Five Little
Peppers and How They Grew."

There is a family whose father is around and caring but absent for most of the
story while the mother and many children (none older than high school) take care of
business and the busy-ness of nosey people who don't like the carefree way this
family lives.
The most unusual thing I remember is that it seems to me that near the end of the
story it comes out that the babies in this family were either found in, or somehow
born in a cabbage patch or onion patch or flower vine in their back yard! The Dad
returns home just in time to prove all the nosey community well doers wrong in
their accusations and the family is happily reunited again. This book must be
written before the 70's for sure and probably the 50's or 60's.

If any of you have any idea what the title is or who the author is if you could let
me know I would greatly appreciate it. TIA

Margo
