I've compiled the responses I received to my request for

What about having them read one of the new books that's designed with the SAT
vocabulary? There might be a book in that version that is not a part of the
curriculum.

My son's class is reading Scarlet Letter, and I bought him the Kaplan SAT version
in a bookstore. He's got the regular version at school and the SAT one at home, so
he's going to compare how he likes them. Maybe they'd enjoy the Edgar Allan Poe
volume-it's not too expensive at $6.99. There's also Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,
Frankenstein. Wuthering Heights.
Maybe they could design some clever Jeopardy games and have students play each
other's versions. They could have vocabulary categories, etc.

Melissa, Be sure to check with Thomson-Gale. They have a fabulous, if somewhat
expensive, database that has helpful materials. I believe it is called the
Education and Testing Center.

===================== Jacob Richman just launched a new site to help students
prepare for SATs. There are over 3,000 multiple choice questions divided into 21
groups. There is also a database browser to review and
print the questions and the correct answers.

=========================== There is a cool website I found a few weeks ago that
I shared with our SAT prep teacher this week. It is www.number2.com It is free,
and very well set-up. It does SAT, ACT, and GRE prep, and vocabulary development.

http://www.collegeboard.com/splash Back in the day my SAT prep class included
the Word Power column from Reader's Digest. We also had to make up 100 3x5" index
cards with an unfamiliar word and it's definition from our casual reading.
