We have one for older elementary (interest level approx 3-6; reading level approx
5.6) authored by a Mainer whose father grew up in a logging camp in New Hampshire.
Title is Timber....a history of logging in New England by Mary Morton Cowan. It
has several b&w photos and illustrations and "A day in the life of a....". Covers
from colonial period to present. Has glossary, "to learn more" page with good list
of books, videos, places to visit and web sites. Published by The Millbrook Press,
Inc. Brookfield, CT 06804, www.millbrookpress.com. ISBN 0-7613-1866-6. (I got it
through Amazon, actually).

Hope this is helpful.
