YALSA's Teens and Technology Institute
Friday, January 20, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Explore how teen literacies such as reading, writing, and communicating
are expanding and changing via technologies like chat, IM, blogs, text
messaging, wikis & more. Participants will explore: How teen gamers are
reading, writing, and seeking out information using technology; The link
between gamers and graphic novel readers and how technology helps bridge
the two interests; The ethical issues related to teen use of these
technologies; How library workers can incorporate these technologies in
their services & programs. Choose this event ONLY if you are not also
attending the Video Gaming Night listed below.
Tickets: YALSA Member: $210; ALA Member: $250; Non-Member: $300;
Student/Retired: $210

Teens & Technology Combined Event - Institute and Video Gaming Night
Friday, January 20. Workshop 9:00 am - 4:30 pm; Game Night 7:00 pm -
9:00 pm
Register for the Teens & Technology Institute and attend the Video
Gaming Night (see below) at a 50% discount. To register for both the
Institute and Game Night at the discounted price, register only for the
combined event.
Tickets: (Includes Institute and Game Night) YALSA Member: $230; ALA
Member: $270; Non-Member: $320; Student Member: $230

YALSA's Video Gaming Night
Friday, January 20, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Come take part in the world of video games via demonstrations and
hands-on play with all types of devices including gaming consoles and
handhelds. Demonstrators will be available to offer assistance and
answer questions. Refreshments provided. Choose this event ONLY if you
are not attending the Teens and Technology Institute listed
above.Tickets: $40.
