This has been asked before so I will assume general interest for Elementary and
Middle School.
Speaking as a former member of the Newbery Committee, there are no nominee lists.
That said- if you are looking for 2005 books so that you will be well read when the
announcements come here are a few ideas.

Many public libraries create reading lists of mock Newbery titles.
For a good how-to book, try Newbery and Caldecott Mock Elections by Kathleen
Simonetta, Nancy Hackett and Linda Ward-Callaghan (ALA Editions, 2001, ISBN:
0-838-98161-5, www.ala.org/alsc/publication. html), which provides everything for a
mock election, including evaluation forms, tips for book discussions, guidelines
for evaluating books, award-winning author biographies, reproducible voting sheets
and more.

Theresa Young Brantley, who was on the 1999 Newbery committee that chose Holes
by Louis Sachar (Yearling, 2000, ISBN: 0-440-41480-6) as the winner, leads the Eva
Perry Newbery Book Club, comprised of kids who read books published in the current
year. Her site, http://www.geocities.com/mocknewbery/readinglist.htm contains a
list of titles for consideration.
