Hi all, As always, this Listserv is such an important part of my everyday; once again, LM_NET members have provided the answers needed. It's a privilege to be associated with such an incredible group of colleagues -- through cyberspace. Original post: A teacher and I have been trying to find a resource that is student friendly and will supply us with data regarding immigration by country or region or groups of people i.e. Greeks, Italians, Poles, Arabs for 1890 - 1920. We would like yearly stats but he would happily accept by data by decades. A special thanks to Martin, Darlene, Hella, Linda, I'm not sure it will be enough, but take a look at FactMonster's page on immigration: http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0900547.html Brownstone, David M., and Irene M. Franck. Facts About American Immigration. New York. H.W.Wilson Company. 2001. ISBN0-8242-0959-1 We do an immigration unit with our 8th grade, concentrating on Italy, Ireland, Japan, China, Cuba, Mexico and Native Americans' migration (specifically, the Dakota). The curriculum link on our web site http://www.asij.ac.jp/middle/lib/curlinks/Immigration/Immigration.htm contains a link from the LOC that we find to be very helpful for our students' research: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammem/ndlpedu/features/immig/introduction.html A student page with good information http://www.bergen.org/AAST/Projects/Immigration/ The Second Wave European Immigration from 1850-1920 Another page from the Library of Congress http://lcweb2.loc.gov/learn/educators/workshop/european/wimmlink.html http://history.wisc.edu/archdeacon/404tja/graph/ppg.html (immigration statistics) German Immigration and Emigration http://www.serve.com/shea/germusa/geneal.htm Do you have access to Historical Statistics of the US? It seems to me it includes information of this sort.
