Hi everyone,

First of all, I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to
offer advice and support. I tried to thank everyone individually, but the response
was so overwhelming, I fear I missed some of you.

My dilemma involved the fact that, after volunteering to coordinate a Battle of the
Books for my school and meeting with the parents about it, I was told that I was
going to be given an addition 45 minute duty covering a classroom each week.

With the awesome help of JaKay Greer (Thank you!) I submitted a letter to my
adminstration outlining the extra duties I already perform, and why I could not
take on an additional duty on top of battle of the Books.

I gave the letter to them on Monday morning. Finally, today, they called me into
the office and have arranged the duty schedule so that I don't have to do the
classroom coverage. They did show me the schedule and asked me if I could see any
slots that I could fill in order to ease the schedule and I am taking on a 20
minute AM hall duty. It's low pressure, close to the library, and I can actually
read, correct papers, or browse catalogs while I'm there. I think it's a decent
compromise, especially since my name will NOT be glaringly absent from the
schedule. This new schedule is not going to make anyone happy, so it's best if all
names appear on it. (I was however informed by one of the principals that she
would take on Battle of the Books herself, if they had not been able to revise the
schedule and I refused to do it, kind of jab to keep me in my place I think)

Thank you all SO MUCH for you support. You are a wonderful group of people. It
has been a long week, now I can relax and enjoy the season a little. Happy
Holidays to all,
