[LM_NET] GEN:Graphic Novels; middle school

Does anyone have some recommended titles for graphic novels for middle
school, grades 6-8?  I have a small grant($250) to purchase some titles and
would like to know which ones might be considered must haves.  Also, are
there graphic novels that are not part of a series which would be good to
purchase?  It just seems like it is quite expensive to get into the series
graphic novels which have many volumes.  Any input appreciated-- Thanks
