I have the following print encyclopedias in my high school collection: World Book, Americana, Colliers and Academic American. Some of these can no longer be purchased. My predecessor used to rotate every four years, buying one new set and retiring the old one. I bought new World Book this year, but so far have kept the rest (7-10 years old) rather than weeding them out. As far as I can tell, the only available quality set other than World Book is Britannica. I hesitate to purchase it because of the price. What is the general consensus about weeding and purchasing print encyclopedias these days? Marcia L. Jensen, Library Media Specialist Davenport West High School 563-386-5500 jensenm@davenportschools.org "I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them."
