Summary of responses on internet safety:

CYBERSMART - 4 responses
My favorite online source has stayed
consistent/reliable for a few years:
Cybersmart:
http://www.cybersmart.org/info/curriculum.asp

with 5th grade.
http://www.cybersmartcurriculum.org/home/
a free K-8 curriculum, covering all aspects of internet usage and
technology

I use all the curriculum from
Cybersmart. It is all online from Harcourt Brace. It is located at
http://www.cybersmartcurriculum.org/home/

I use www.cybersmartcurriculum.org to teach internet safety to 5th
grade.
I just went to the site and saw under "more free stuff" presentations
to
familiarize teachers with the subject.

Stay Safe Online
http://www.staysafeonline.org/default2.htm
An easy, kid-friendly guide to the Internet beginning with an
introduction
by Tara Lipinski, the program is hosted by Shaquille O' Neal and his
animated friends. This simple, 15 minute program helps children (and
parents) make smart choices about the use of Internet chat rooms,
e-mail,
and websites.

Several years ago I received in the mail a freebie, entitled "Stay
Safe!
Online". It works on both PC and Macs. A characterized Shaquille
O'Neal
covers the basic rules online safety. It's a 15 minute program. It's
from Microsoft through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

iSAFE - 2 responses
DoDDS bought iSAFE http://www.isafe.org/index.php to meet the
congressional requirement. I imagine it's hugely expensive though.

DODDS has purchased and is endorsing www.isafe.org

OTHERS
There is a great video, which we purchased from Crime Prevention
Resources. It is called "Internet Safety". I have also purchased their
other titles on "Indentity Theft".

http://www.crimeprevent.com/ They are a Medford company, but are
nationally known for their great resources. The person you would want to
talk to is George Raw. graw@advantagesource.com .

I still use the Safe Surfin Video (1999) . If you get any updated
information
I would appreciate hearing about it.

With 5th grade:
PBS Kids Internet Knowledge

Take this "Rules of the Road" test to earn your official PBS Kids Web
license.

I also use another freebie, "The Beginner's Buide to the Internet"
from
lycos.com. It's a 1999 version. Corny. It's also about 30 minutes
long.
