[LM_NET] Good site to teach web evaluation

Yesterday 2 of my students found a site while searching for information
on gun control.  It is a great example of a hoax site.  It was one of
those terrific "teachable" moments.  In my class introduction, I had
just told them that books and research databases as well as web sites
were required - and that I was going to deduct point from their works
cited lists for any websites that were not authoratative and reliable.
(I grade the works cited lists for this project).  Our filter blocked
the site and they wanted to know if I would temporarily unblock it for
them.  Since I was "unblocking" a site - I stayed around to make sure
that it was OK.  The students were sure this was exactly what they
wanted, because it came up in a google search.  But I reminded them to
search for the author and/or organization responsible for the
information.  When they clicked on "contact us"  they realized that the
whole site was a parody, and that they had almost been "fooled".
