I have not seen the episode in question, so I don't know how the situation was handled. Was attention called to the fact that the couple are lesbians? If so, then I DO have a problem with that. I don't think that it is necessary to exploit ANYONE'S sexuality in family programming. When characters or children visit a family, do we call attention to their parents' sexuality? What if they are bi, or swingers? Do we mention that? I think not. This is just my personal opinion. Cindy Rider School Liaison Program Librarian Vigo County Public Library Terre Haute, IN crider@vigo.lib.in.us http://www.vigo.lib.in.us "If we didn't have libraries, many people thirsty for knowledge would dehydrate." (Megan Jo Tetrick, age 12, Daleville, Indiana) The Vigo County Public Library is "easy to find. It's the million-story building at Seventh and Poplar streets." I have lost respect for PBS, have always thought of public television as the last resort for unbiased information. Life is full of diversity! Isn't that what all the multi-cultural hoopla is all about? What purpose to hide this from children? Better they see a loving, happy family in their preschool years to offset the prejudice and hypocrisy they will encounter later. Think DOE and PBS personnel have their own hangups with gay and lesbian relationships and want to pass this on to preschool children as soon as they can. Cultural diversity is only for some people, not all, and, by cracky, my government and my public TV network can decide this forme using my tax dollars. This is what they are really saying. Nasty, nasty. I hope they grow up, but probably not in my lifetime.
