I've been fighting with this company for three years now. I also had a box of books appear without approval. A fax as sent to the school as a follow-up. I emailed and stated that I would consider the books a gift unless picked up immediately. Bene e Pace (Blessings and Peace), Paula S.W. Laurita -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of BISHOP WOODS EL SCHOOL Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2005 1:57 PM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: [LM_NET] Library Express A company called Library Express out of Wisconsin called me and asked me to preview books. I said I was not allowed to preview, only the department chair was allowed to. Next thing I know I have a box of books to preview - addressed to the Department chair but with my school's address. I called and said I did not authorize the shipment and neither did my department chair. They insisted they had talked to her and she had okayed it. I called her and she was adamant that she had never talked to them. They arranged for the books to be picked up and I thought that was the end of it until today. One of my colleagues called and said they did the same thing to her - only she was expecting a shipment of books from a grant and thought they were the expected books and processed them and when she discovered the mistake had to pay a $1600 bill. When she called the department chair to confess her mistake, the chair told her that she also had a box of books in her office from the s! ame company that she had not ordered. So if you get a call from them and do not want to have the books sent, be sure to tell them that if they dend the books you will consider them to be a gift and NOT pay for them. If they get burnt often enough they will stop this shady business practice.
