USING PICTURE BOOKS TO TEACH LITERARY DEVICES from Oryx Press would be a
good resource to begin with.

Subject: picture books to teach figurative language

I am working on a unit to teach figurative language to
third graders. For example, Atlantic by G.Brian Karas is
perfect for personification, and Aster Aardvark's
Alphabet Adventures is perfect for teaching alliteration.
If you have any suggestions for picture books that can be
used to teach onomatopoeia, repetition, personification
etc. please send me your ideas. PS.I am taking a class
and one of my assignments is to do a Target and a Hit, so
please help!!!
