Thunderbird does (or at least should) open your system's default
browser. If the default browser in Windows XP is Firefox or Opera,
Thunderbird should open it.
I don't have Windows, but I believe if you click the "Start" button and
then select "Set Program Access and Defaults" and then select "Custom"
you can then set your default browser.

If you are a Thunderbird email user, have you figured out how to change
the default browser that Thunderbird opens enclosed URLs in? For some
unknown reason, mine opens an old 4.7 version of Netscape, and I would
like to change it to Firefox or Opera...... I have looked under Tools
in Account Settings and Options but have not been able to spot the
right place to make the change.
Any ideas?
