Many apologies for posting to the entire list, but I had one of those
interruptions and lost the name and e-mail of the person who asked this
question.

A great resource for books on Asia for children is Asia for Kids,
<www.asiaforkids.com> and the companion company Culture for Kids,
<www.cultureforkids.com>. Asia for Kids offers books, videos, and toys about
Asia in both Asian languages and English.

I ordered a large assortment of foreign language picture dictionaries from
Culture for Kids and was really happy with the service (getting the processing
sent was slow and required a couple of phone calls, but that's the only
problem).

I have also been happy with Gareth Stephens Publishing series Countries of the
World. I went for their version that is for older children. The version that
is supposedly for younger children has bigger print and less text, but is
actually not easier to read, and has fewer pictures.
