We handle most of our business by email and teachers are required to check
email daily - if not more. We also communicate with parents through K-12
Planet and bulk email. Teachers are also required to post assignments,
grades, attendance, etc. on K-12 Planet and parents then communicate any
concerns through the email component. We would be lost without email.

Subject: [LM_NET] e-mail for teachers

> I would like to know how other schools handle teacher e-mail. Are teachers
required to communicate with parents through e-mail?
>
> We are finding that some parents want to communicate with all teachers
through e-mail and feel that teachers should be required to communicate that
way. They say that if the school was a business, it would be required.
However, some teachers balk at the idea of having to check their e-mail
often and don't want to deal with what could be a lot of correspondence. How
are other schools dealing with this?
