Fellow LM-Netters:
Your help is needed today!!! Newbery Medal award book, The Giver by
Lois Lowry is currently being challenged in the Kansas City, Missouri
area (Blue Springs, MO). A local TV news station is making a really big
deal of the whole issue. They are even currently running a survey on
their website asking the public whether or not this book should be
banned from the reading list! It is my understanding that currently 80%
of the respondents are in favor of banning the book from the reading
lists. Please help us put this issue to rest now! Check out the story
